Nicholas “Nick” Armbruster, 96, joined his loving wife, Angeline “Lena” on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013.
Born in Akron to the late Nicholas Martin and Mary (nee Burkovitch) Armbruster, Nick was a graduate of Garfield High School, Class of 1935. He belonged to St. Bernard’s, St. Peter’s, Guardian Angels, and Holy Family Parishes throughout his long life.

His survivors include son, Robert (Mary); daughters, Janet (Tom) Bigley, and Kathy (David) Charboneau; grandchildren, Dr. Shannon Armbruster, Heather Armbruster, Nicholas (Teresa), Christopher (Kerrah), Patrick (Crystal), and Michael Bigley, Denise and Travis Charboneau. His wife of 60 years, Lena, preceded him in death as well as his sister, Mary Anne, and his brother, Adam “Ed”.

Nick was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Air Force. He spent time on the island of Guam and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Nick worked at Mechanical Mold Machine Shop until he retired in 1982. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also bowled winning a gold medal in the Senior Olympics at 90 years of age. Nick enjoyed a long, healthy, wonderful life with his family. He attended many of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events throughout the years. He will be greatly missed by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Viewing will take place one hour prior to mass at the church.
