Obituary for Kathleen Marie Francis (Hutson)

Kathleen Marie (Hutson) Francis passed away February 1, 2015 after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Alice (Twigg) Hutson and brother, Thomas E. Hutson II. She is survived by her loving husband John Francis and children Alicen and Vidal Maestas; siblings Jerri Sauter (Howard), Michael, Patrick (Pam), Erin O'Neill (Kevin); in-laws, Elaine Ehrenfried and Bill O'Neil, Carol Zodrow, Pahtrick (Susan) Ehrenfried, Matthew (Joy) Slick; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, colleagues and friends.

Kathleen was born in Akron on June 19, 1962. Following graduating from St. Vincent - St. Mary High School and the University of Akron with a B.S. in Education, Kathleen moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to teach in the Clark County Schools. While living in Vegas, she enjoyed teaching, singing on stage and completing her graduate work at the University of Nevada - Las Vegas. Kathleen often described Ohio as the best place to raise a family so she returned to Summit County to raise her children and to be closer to family and friends. Eventually, Kathleen returned to the classroom as a teacher at The Cuyahoga County Juvenile Correction Facility helping young men complete their high school degrees.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the many friends who gave their love and support through visits, calls, cards and prayers. Additionally, they wish to acknowledge the caring staff of the Cleveland Clinic and the compassionate and remarkable nursing and direct care staff at Akron General Hospice.

All who knew her will miss Kathleen's smile, laughter and passion for life. Join us in celebration at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 7 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Akron, OH. Kathleen requested that we celebrate her life with color, therefore, feel free NOT to wear black.
