Robert Alvin Gentzel
Robert A. Gentzel, 96, passed away on July 1, 2015, while residing at Grande Village Assisted Living in Twinsburg. Born in Pennsylvania to the late Frank and Bertha Gentzel, he had lived most of his life in the Canfield area. During World War II he served with the U.S. Coast Guard after which he trained as an electrician and heating/air conditioning specialist. In the 1960’s he became a dealer and installer of commercial air conditioning equipment. His expertise in this area took him to many exotic areas of the world such as Columbia, Tahiti, Iran, and Pakistan.
In addition to his professional trips, his love of travel led him to circumnavigate the world twice, visiting nearly every continent and dozens of countries.

In 1969 he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marian. Later, his second wife, Clara, also preceded him in death.

His survivors include daughters, Carol (Steve) Bowman of Aurora, Ohio, Nancy Gentzel of Houston, Texas; son, Robert Allen (Mel) Gentzel of Roanoke, Virginia; grandsons, Kevin and Mike Bowman, and David (Melinda) Gentzel; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel (65 N. Broad St., Canfield, Ohio) where Rev. Russell Adams will officiate at a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Canfield Cemetery.
