Obituary for Bernard "Ben" Rubal

Bernard "Ben" Rubal
Ben (Bernard) Rubal, 90, passed away after a courageous 3 year battle with lung cancer.
He is survived by truly his other half and wife of 67 years, Helen (Korch); his grieving children and their spouses, Dr. Bernard Rubal (Diane), Mary Helen Arth (Geoffrey), and Ann Marie Voros (George); his 8 treasured grandchildren, Matt, Mike, Mark, and Melissa (Marbach) Rubal, Sharon (Ford) and Mike Arth, Mary Helen and George Bernard Voros; and his 9 (soon to be 11) cherished great grandchildren. Ben was the last surviving and youngest child of the fabulous "Lloydell 11" Rubal gang.

A 20 year employee of Terex/GM, Ben was an electrician by trade but a Renaissance man and Jack-of-all Trades. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in Europe, a member of American Legion Post 175 and prior member of the Stow City Zoning Board. He was an avid fisherman, Political Advocate, Bingo enthusiast, and for many years was Santa and Easter Bunny at children's functions throughout the area. He was beloved, benevolent, and a steadfast leader, husband, father and friend to all he met (except telemarketers).

His passing defines many of his generation: a man of integrity, loyalty, courageous, and selfless. He will be immeasurably missed by the family and friends who love him beyond words, because he was: "Simply the Best!"

Calling hours will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt.91). Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 Noon at Holy Family Catholic Church, Fr. Mike Ausperk officiating. Interment will take place at Stow Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Senior Independence Hospice or to the Akron VA Clinic in support of veterans.
