Obituary for Jean A. Dieringer (Anderson)

Jean A. Dieringer (Anderson)
Jean Anna Dieringer (nee Anderson) passed away on July 22, 2016. She was born in Cleveland on June 22, 1920. She attended school in Cleveland until the family moved to Dorset, Ohio. Jean and family moved to Warren, Pa. where she continued her education graduating from Warren High School in 1939. She moved back to Ohio where she attended and graduated from Kent State University 1943 with dual majors in Economics and Spanish.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Duard “Dutch” Dieringer; brother, Edwin Anderson; and parents, Edwin and Mary Anderson. She is survived by her 7 children, Donna Malloy, Richard (Betty) Dieringer, Virginia “Ginger” Dieringer (Al Hudson), Edwin (Anita) Dieringer, David (Susan) Dieringer, John (Mary) Dieringer, Rita (Joe) Lane; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by sisters, Doris Bolton and Mary Ellen Barrett, both of Florida.

Jean was a homemaker until the youngest was in school, and then she started her teaching career. She taught Home Economics at Litchfield Junior High. She also made sure that all of her own children could sew on a button, hem a pair of pants, and cook. “You never know when you might have to take care of yourself.”

She was a talented seamstress who enjoyed the art of knitting, crocheting, and tatting. She loved poetry and could often recite verses from long ago.

She was a quiet and gentle woman with a wry sense of humor. Jean always took her time with any task and was never known to hurry anywhere. She seemed to delight in everyone else racing around her. Her patience with children was always apparent...

Jean enjoyed travel with her husband, Dutch, and they had many happy years spending winters in Florida with Uncle Dick and Aunt Paulyne; then returning to Ohio in the Spring. They were members of Firestone Park Prime Timers for many years.

Almost thirteen years ago she moved to assisted living at Rockynol where she enjoyed many activities and outings until her last years in the SCU and nursing. The family would like to thank the many staff members at Rockynol who were so supportive over these years. And special thanks goes to the Hospice Care Team.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to the American Alzheimer’s Assoc.(70 West Streetsboro Rd. Suite 201, Hudson, OH 44236) or to Hospice of Senior Independence (1150 W Market St, Akron, OH 44313).
