Obituary for Charles Leeland "Charlie" Whipple
Charles Leeland Whipple passed away at home on Monday, August 29th, 2016, at the age of 49.
Charlie was born November 14th, 1966 in Akron, OH, where he spent most of his life. He spent time in the Air Force, worked a variety of jobs ranging from parking lot attendant to bartender to car salesman to owner of a pager store before finally settling on a career in information technologies. A man of many interests, Charlie was a jack of all trades and a master of many. His passions included magic (both the act and the card game), the ukulele, cooking, anything that flew by remote control, woodworking, and, of course, anything technological. He spent the last few years of his life under the thoughtful and loving care of his cousins Marsha Gerard and Chuck Haddad.
Preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Miller, he is survived by his father Leslie Whipple; daughter Amber Whipple, son Jake Whipple, and grandson Thor Craft; brothers Less Whipple & family and Eugene Whipple & family and sisters Tracy Alexoff & family and Florence Whipple & family. In addition to his extended family, Charlie also leaves behind a large number of individuals he considered family and who considered him family in return.
Calling hours will be Saturday, 2-4 p.m., at The Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home, 811 Grant St., Akron , with a memorial service to follow at 4 p.m.
