Obituary for Mary C. Royer (McCormick)

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary C. (McCormick) Royer on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 300 East Tallmadge Avenue, Akron, Ohio, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2016 at Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home, 3333 Kent Rd, Stow, Ohio. Mary, 90, passed away on August 30, 2016.

Mary’s roots were in Akron’s North Hill, where she was a parishioner at St. Martha Catholic Church and a student at St. Martha Elementary School. She then went on to St. Vincent High School, where she met her future husband, Patrick Royer. They were married for 64 years until his death in 2011.

During their long marriage, encompassing several career moves, Pat and Mary raised seven children. Mary was a full-time mother, lovingly tending to the physical, educational, social and spiritual needs of her children. She was always active in her church and community, and demonstrated unflagging devotion to her husband, her children and her faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Helen McCormick, her husband, Pat Royer, and Pat and Mary’s beloved son, James Patrick Royer.

Survivors include children, Maureen Royer Lofton and husband, Gary, of Conehatta, MS; Anne Royer Williams and husband , Tim, of Munroe Falls, OH; John Royer of Visalia, CA; Claire Royer Molinaro and husband, Ron, of Valencia, PA; Martin Royer and wife, Pam, of Saginaw, MI; and Denis Royer and wife, Tricia, of Menomonee Falls, WI; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., Greater East Ohio Chapter, 70 W. Streetsboro Rd., Ste.201, Hudson, OH 44236.
