Obituary for Paul P. Putnik

Paul P.  Putnik
Paul P. Putnik, 91 passed away on Nov 10, 2016 with his daughters by his side. He was born in Akron, MI to the late George and Mary Putnik. He eventually settled in Akron, OH. Paul was a retired truck driver; however, he always knew how to provide for himself and his family. Some of his jobs included selling door to door produce, owning a produce stand, selling real estate and security guard.
He was a proud World War II veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a life member of both the Marine Corp League and VFW Post 3383. Paul logged 12,000 hours over 15 years volunteering at the Summit County Veterans Service Commission. He loved playing cards, gardening, traveling and polka dancing.
In 2010 his wife of 57 years Shirley preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Alice Putnik.

His survivors include daughters, Paula (Jeff) Gauntner, Laura (Mark) Young and Nancy Putnik; grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Valerie, Elizabeth, Max, and Luke; great-grandchildren, Lily, Brett, Lyla, and Lincoln.

Pastor Robert Täuscher will officiate at funeral services on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church (724 Sumner St., Akron, 44311) followed by interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park where VFW Post 3383 will render military honors. Friends may call on Friday from 5 yo 8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt.91).

The family would like to offer a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sunrise - his home for the last 6 years- and to Harbor Light Hospice for their compassion in his last days.
