Obituary for William Stanley "Stan" Lyons Jr.

William Stanley "Stan" Lyons Jr.
William Stanley Lyons, Jr., 80, passed away peacefully on Jan. 6, 2017. He was born in Hardinsburg, Ky. on Dec. 5, 1936 to mother Floy (Chancellor) Lyons DeJarnette and father William Stanley Lyons, Sr. Stan grew up in Mattingly and Cloverport, Ky. moving to Stow in 1961. Stan was a U.S. Army veteran. He loved listening to Cleveland Indians baseball and Cavs basketball games and watching Browns football. He enjoyed meeting friends at Arby's and at Charlies. He also enjoyed going to car shows and walks at Kendall and Indigo Lakes in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Stan was fascinated by space, UFO's, and the life of Edgar Cayce. When at his family home in Cloverport, Ky. he enjoyed watching the barges on the Ohio River.

Stan was a generous man helping anyone in any way he could. He was never elected to any high office, nor did he rise to the top of any corporation but he proved that he was a great man by his example, his courage, his kindness, his honesty, his integrity and most of all his hard work and sacrifice for all of us.

Diagnosed with Parkinsons, a humbling disease, he faced each new challenge with bravery and dignity. Stan worked a Superior Mold and Die, Massey Ferguson, Wheeler Boyce, Bargain and Supply, and loved to flea market with Stan and Steve Tools.

A man of God, the most important to Stan were his faith, his family, and his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Jane Isabell, his wife, Mary (Kudelka) Lyons, and his brothers-in-law Winton Ladner and Joe Kudelka, great friends, Steve Riter, Paul Kidwell, Bob Rugala, Jim Capots, Lee Horton, Richard Kimble and Bill Powman.
He is survived by his son, Steven (Debbie) Lyons, and daughter, Patty (Bill) Kordinak; sister, Nancy Ladner; brother, Tom (Elaine) Lyons; great friends, Bob Carroll, Devere Beach, Martin Jones, Ernie Turner, Bob Fitager, Frank Harris, and Jeff and Loretta Wilson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
