Cheryl S. Roarty, age 67, of Green, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, July 4th, 2017, after battling a short illness. Cheryl was born on February 21st, 1950 in Akron, Ohio to her parents Benjamin and Fern Cappo; the fifth of their eight children.
Cheryl grew up in Firestone Park, graduated from Garfield High School in 1968, and soon after joined General Tire as a secretary. In 1970, Cheryl met her true love, Greg, and one year later they wed. Greg and Cheryl enjoyed 47 wonderful years together. She worked for General Tire until the birth of her first son, Ryan in 1975. She continued on as a homemaker and gave birth to her second son, Kevin in 1979. Later, she would return to the workforce at Akron General Medical Center as a medical secretary. Cheryl retired with more than twenty years of service in 2010.
Cheryl was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church with many close ties to her parish and community in Green. She was always the first to be at the side of those in need, and was the most devoted wife, mother, and grandmother known. It is for certain that God put her on this earth to be a wife and mother above all else. Her deep love for family and friends set a shining example that all could follow. Cheryl was a kind and gentle soul, but never afraid to so stand up for those of us she cared about so deeply. It is impossible to count the number of lives Cheryl touched and affected, but it is plain to see the wonderful impact of her generosity that she left behind. We are all better for knowing her, and the world is a better place for having her. Cheryl will be deeply missed, but it is certain that she will continue to watch over and care for her loved ones.
