Elma Lea  Charlton (Maxson)
Elma Lea Charlton (Maxson) passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017.
She was born August 12, 1925 in Philippi, West Virginia to Carl and Nell Maxson. The family relocated to Akron in 1940.

Preceded in death by her husband, Richard T. Charlton in 2000, Elma leaves behind loving family members:
daughter, Richele Charlton, and son-in-law, Thomas Simpson; son, Michael Charlton; grandchildren:
Conar Charlton-Dennis and wife Jennifer; Devlin Charlton-Dennis and wife Amanda Toney; Aislinn Charlton-Dennis; Ian Simpson; Ethan Simpson; great grandchildren: Paige Charlton-Dennis; Tanner Charlton Gibbs; McKenna Charlton-Dennis; Adalyn Charlton-Dennis; Alexandria Charlton; Brixton Charlton; Braylon Witherspoon; Marcus Witherspoon; Brooklyn Gibbs; Kiersten Gibbs; Kennedy Gibbs.

Elma Charlton achieved many accomplishments during her life time, these are but a few.
*Checked mathematical calculations for aircraft wings during WWII, while still in High School.
*Attended University of Cincinnati and majored in Chemical Engineering
*She was on the Goodyear research team that developed PVC and Latex house paint.
*Earned her advanced certification from ACA for wilderness survival.
*Was a Girl Scout leader and day camp organizer.
*Was a member of the State of Ohio Reform Group for the Mentally Challenged.
*Elma was most proud of successfully caring for her special needs son and was also a caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

The family would like to extend a Thank You to the following caregivers:
The Staff of Grande Pavilion in Oakwood Village, Home Again Senior Care, and Crossroads Hospice.

Inurnment and graveside services will take place on Thursday, Aug. 24, at 1:30 p.m. at East Liberty Cemetery.
