Obituary for James Henry Scheatzle

James Henry  Scheatzle
James H. Scheatzle, 102, passed away on Dec. 13. Born in St. Benedict , Penn. to Joseph and Phyllis Scheatzle he was an Akron area resident for most of his life. A graduate of Howard Trade School he and his brother Paul were well known for Amoco Automotive which they owned and operated on North Hill for many years. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army's 3rd Armored Division and saw duty in 5 major battles, including the Battle of the Bulge . For over 60 years he was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.
Preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ruth, and six siblings, he is survived by daughters, Lynda (Gil) Yale, Nancy (John) Setzer, and Karen (Thom) Baer; seven grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be on Monday, Dec. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Interment with military honors will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
