Obituary for Tommy "Truck" Gearhart

Tommy "Truck" Gearhart
Tommy (Truck) Gearhart

71 of Akron, Ohio died peacefully at home on Sunday, Nov. 13th.

The youngest child of John and Elizabeth Gearhart, he was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Tina, Brothers, Jim, John and Bill and beloved sister Joan.

For a man to get custody of his three daughters in the ‘70’s was unheard of, dad rose to the occasion; he was an amazing, dedicated father. Always putting his children before himself, giving them the childhood and education he never had. His love was unconditional, his strength immeasurable . He led by example, never ever giving up. Dad was 34 years sober. After marrying his wife Cindy, he finally had a son. He was so happy to be able to see all of his children graduate high school and college; with his son having an MBA. Dad lived his life fully. His body was worn, his faith was strong. He leaves behind wife Cindy, Daughter Tami Gearhart, Daughter Tracy (Kevin) Hohman and Son John Gearhart(Adam Balfe). Grandchildren: Allie, Sissy, Kara, Ben, Robbie, Andrew and five great grandchildren; Special Great Nephew Jimmie Gearhart. Dad was cremated and will have a private burial at Tallmadge Cemetery. Join his friends and family to celebrate his life on Friday, November 18th from 5-8 p.m. at the South Akron Orioles Club 2166 Manchester Rd. Akron 44314
